The highly anticipated semi-annual idol sports event is soon approaching! The ‘Idol Star Athletics Championship‘ or ISAC for short, brings together hundreds of idols, and has been one of the most highly anticipated programs since it’s Chuseok special began in 2010.
On the 6th, MBC revealed the list of those participating in the ‘2017 ISAC Lunar New Year Special.’ The full line up includes:
Male Groups — B1A4, B.A.P., EXO, NCT, SF9, NU’EST, Mad Town, MONSTA X, BTS, VIXX, VICTON, Seventeen, Snuper, ASTRO, UP10TION, IMFACT, KNK and TEEN TOP.
Female Groups/ Artists — AOA, EXID, Gugudan, LABOUM, Lovelyz, Red Velvet, Melody Day, MIXX, Berry Good, Brave Girls, SONAMOO, GFriend, Oh My Girl, Cosmic Girls, TWICE. FIESTAR, Jeon Min Kyung, Heyne and Rui.
Participants will get a chance to showcase their athletic ability, teamwork, and overall sportsmanship. It’s also a way for idols to get together and interact off the stage. Though these events are a great way for participants to shed their idol image and have fun in various sports, there has been previous concern over routine injuries. These injuries have brought up controversy due to concerns over idol’s health and schedule interference. This year’s event will incorporate previous sports activities like sprints, archery, rhythmic gymnastics, and relays but will also include a new event: male aerobics! The staff has selected games that have less chances of injuries due to concerns over health and safety. Hopefully this year’s ISAC will be a safe and injury free event!
The event will take place on January 16th at the Goyang Indoor Gymnasyium and will broadcast during the Lunar New Year holidays.
