Officially KMusic was lucky enough to have one of our very own attend David Choi and Jason Chen’s “For One Night Only” show. So KMusic readers why don’t you take a minute and check out what Eva had to say about this amazing event.
Out of all of the concerts I have attended, David Choi and Jason Chen’s “For One Night Only” show was one of the Top 5 most memorable for me.
Although the weather was dreary and the chilly autumn breeze had been blowing throughout the whole day, fans of both David and Jason lined up early at Ormond Hall, located on St Kilda Road in Melbourne, Australia. A meet and greet event was held at G2 restaurant, as well as a sound check, which only the lucky VIP ticket holders were able to attend. Jason and David greatly enjoyed having this time to interact directly with their fans.
Fans were ecstatic when Jason appeared on stage, giving a cheeky greeting of “Sup, Melbourne!’ before leading into his medley of “Payphone” and “Beauty and a Beat.” Despite having arrived at 6am that same day, Jason gave his all to his fans, with some lucky ones getting to take some ninja owls home. Other songs performed by Jason include his originals “Best Friend” and newly composed “I Love You,” to which the audience had fun learning and singing along with. In addtion, he performed covers of songs by his favorite Chinese artists, which included Wang Leehom’s 你不知道的事,and David Tao’s 普通朋友,both of which had the audience entranced by his soulful rendition. Other covers included Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and “Sunday Morning.”
During a brief break, fans lined up at a photo-booth set up by Doux, where fans got to write personal messages for the performers as others were lining up to get their MNS Treble Clef Replay and David Choi t–shirts, as well as their albums.
After the break, David Choi performed many of his originals; “Can’t Take This Away” from his new album “Forever and Ever”, as well as “Missing Piece.” Everyone enjoyed his performance which included a surprise guest to whom David dedicated a special performance of “Itsy Whitsy Spider”. Accompanying him were his bandmates Shaun and Matthew from Singapore. All three performers had great rapport with each other and demonstrated this by coming up with songs about cheese and other silly gags, which generated a lot of laughter from the audience.
The fans showed their dedication and support by gathering close to the stage for the duration of the concert. The up-close and personal fan interactions and the heartfelt performances are what made this event a great success. This concert will not be easily forgotten and I am extremely thankful that I got to be a part of it.
Thank you to Ellipsis Entertainment for inviting us and bringing Jason Choi and David Chen down under!
