The predictions about 2NE1’s 2nd studio album ‘CRUSH’ are an absolute sensation. In a short span since the albums release the album has already topped music charts not just in Korea but across the globe. By February 28th, two of their tracks had already done extremely well on the music charts! “COME BACK HOME” found its way to the top of the list, ranking at No.1 on numerous charts such as Melon, Olleh Music, Bugs, Mnet, Soribada, Daum Music, and Genie. Their second track “GOTTA BE YOU” performed especially well with the No.1 spot on the Monkey3 and Naver Music chart. It is also No.1 on iTunes in seven countries Brunei, Finland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.
The group has proved that they have what it takes to not only to make it as domestic artist but also as international music stars. All over over the world, fans can all agree that 2NE1 is best known for their song “I Am The Best”. Once the first track was heard from the album, BlackJacks knew from that moment the girls had returned to their roots. The tracks match previous releases of their songs such as “Do You Love Me?”, “Falling in Love” and “Missing You,” which held Middle Eastern, Reggae, Trap, and Acoustic Ballads bases for the albums featured songs. One song that does this is CRUSH’s lead single “Come Back Home” which has two different genre’s with a bouncy beat in the beginning of the song. Later on in the song they croon to for lost relationship.
Besides the albums impressive digital record sales that stood out, it was 2NE1’s charismatic leaders CL’s unseen talent. Already being able to sing, dance and rap she has now proven she is also a talented composer. CL wrote and composed three songs on their album including their featured track “CRUSH”. The other two songs she composed are “GOTTA BE YOU” and “BABY I MISS YOU” but she didn’t stop there. She also had a hand in writing lyrics for 5 of the albums songs. CL also collaborated with a series of producers and wrote the lyrics for her solo track “MTBD”.
2ne1’s album is the life of the party. They made sure their fans got a little bit of everything especially with the Korean version of their anticipated 2012 Japanese release of “SCREAM”. SCREAM is just as fierce as their Japanese version which is often rare. The biggest surprised that came off the album was the unplugged version of “COME BACK HOME”. The acoustic song closes off the album with the girls booming yet complimenting musical-personalities such as Minzy’s growing vocals, Bom’s strong voice, Dara’s sweet timbre, and CL’s charismatic rapping.
