Girls’ Generation’s most recent hit “Mr. Mr” earned the ninesome international recognition and their best chart position yet on the Billboard 200.
While the group’s EP fourth mini album “Mr. Mr.” starts at #110 on the Billboard 200, the lead single “Mr. Mr” – the highest entry to date – is at #5 on both the K-Pop Hot 100 and the new bestselling K-Pop songs on the World Digital Songs.
Taeyeon told Billboard, “The song has the exciting and powerful melodies that we think characterize Girls’ Generation quite well.”
The single was brought to life, as the girls played sexy, dreamy nurses and surgeons in the accompanying “Mr. Mr” video, the next to come after their YouTube Music Award-winning video, “I Got a Boy“.
On why Girls’ Generation is operating on the video’s male stars, Sooyoung commented, “Our new music video has the concept of encouraging and boosting the confidence of those men who have lost courage. We won video of the year at the YouTube Music Awards last year. In gratefulness for receiving such an incredible award and so much love, we worked really hard this time as well.”
The girls have been away from the scene since January of 2013, but they assure fans, the wait will be well worth it.
“Since 2014 is the ‘Year of the Horse,’ we plan to run energetically like a horse,” Sooyoung adds. “Starting with our new mini album, there are many plans ahead. In appreciation for the fans who have waited our comeback for a long time, we plan do lots of performances throughout the year.”
Billboard provided a video to the interview they had with the girls. Take a look down below to find out more.
