Female rookie singer, Juniel, has denied that the recent IU-Eunhyuk photo controversy played to her favor.
Debuting earlier in June 2012 with ‘Illa Illa‘, the 19 year old rookie artist quickly rose to fame and gained the title “Nation’s Second Little Sister” for her stylistic similarity to IU, earning the affection of uncle fans everywhere.
Several media outlets have interviewed Juniel in the KBS Music Bank waiting room on November 23. When asked about speculations that IU-Eunhyuk photo controversy as a factor that propelled Juniel to fame, she answered, “I am sorry for IU’s situation,” and denied that it benefited her, “It’s a complete nonsense that I do well because of that. In fact, I don’t care about the incident at all. The only thought I have is to keep working on my music,” she added.
Juniel is currently in a stiff competition with Lee Hi and Ailee for the title “Rookie of The Year” in the upcoming MAMA Awards. She has obtained 40% of the votes so far. To this, Juniel responded, “If I am to receive the award, I shall receive it thankfully. But winning the award is not the sole purpose of my career.”
