Mnet D-1O Results Reveal EXO and Shinhwa Going Head to Head in Two Key Categories

The Mnet Asian Music Awards-(MAMA) is fast approaching and with just days for K-Pop fans to vote, Mnet  has published the current results of the online votes.

Since November 12th, over six million votes have been cast in the eight award categories.

This years MAMA will be not just memorable, but will be completely different from their previous award shows especially since the voting process for international fans has been re-established to make it easier to vote.  With the option of using your Facebook or Twitter account to register, voting is becoming less of a hassle and this will most definitely affect the results for the 2013 MAMA from selections of a worldwide audience.

The two artists who seem to battling it out are Shinhwa and EXO in the Best Male Group and Artist of the Year categories; EXO is losing by a large margin to their predecessors  in Shinhwa.  In the Artist of the Year category, Shinhwa currently is leading the vote with 32.2 percent while  EXO is in second place but with 19.2 percent of the vote.  The disparity between votes is similar in the Best Male Group category.  Shinhwa is currently sitting in 1st place with 38.2 percent of the vote, while EXO is following close behind with 25.6 percent of the vote.

Big Bang’s leader G-Dragon is sitting pretty with his highly acclaimed album, “Coup D’Etat” by leading in three of of his nominated categories.  The category in which he has the lowest amount of votes is the Best Dance Performance-Male Solo, which causes him to go head to head with Big Bang’s maknae, Seungri.  The member with the highest margin is  G-Dragon with 35.6 percent of the leading vote, with Seungri who has a strong 31.3 percent. In the Best Male Artist category, G-Dragon is currently in the lead against Lee Seung Gi.  G-Dragon has 48.9 percent of the majority vote, while Seung Gi trails weakly in second with 27.4 percent.  G-Dragon also currently has the lead vote in the Nissan Juke Best Music Video Category.

2013 MAMA will truly differ from last year.  For the first time in months the groups will reunite once again to perform on stage.  As all of the members will have released their solo projects early this year and most recently  prior to MAMA, this comeback stage will be something to watch, Big Bang hasn’t performed together since G-Dragon’s ‘ONE OF A KIND’ world tour.  EXO will have a humbling moment at this year’s award ceremony as they go against their senior groups and their well established and well organized fan bases.

Your vote counts for this years 2013 MAMA until November 21^st, especially since Mnet made the process much easier for international K-Pop fans to vote for their favorite artists.  Every vote counts.  2013 MAMA ceremony will be held on November 22nd at Hong Kong’s Asia World Expo.
