PSY can still feel his enormous popularity as he picked up an award at the Billboard Music Awards and became the first Korean singer to do so.
The ceremony was held on May 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. PSY won the Top Streaming Song (Video) award for his worldwide hit “Gangnam Style”, beating up artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Taylor Swift, Fun, and Macklemore.
The award is given to a person whose music video is the most-viewed video on YouTube and another SNS platforms. Since PSY’s “Gangnam Style” has over 1.6 billion hits on YouTube this award is not a surprise for anyone.
PSY was nominated in the six categories including Top New Artist, Top Streaming Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Dance Song and Top Rap Song.
