T-ARA has finally joined the ranks of the embattled groups making triumphant comebacks! Like KARA, the group has been struggling under the weight of internet gossip since the departure of Aureum last year, as well as intense confusion regarding their line-up and future as a group. The solo debuts of Hyomin with the controversial “Nice Body,” and Jiyeon with her lack-luster and not well received “1Min 1Sec,” cast further doubt on the groups’s viability. Now that “Sugar Free” has been released, those concerns have been completely laid to rest.
The song has a strong EDM style, making it instantly distinguishable from other recent girl group releases. Once it gets fully going, it is also obviously a T-ARA song. It has a slightly similar sound to the T-ARA N4 release “Countryside Life.” The video is pretty standard fare, but it is perfectly suitable and serviceable. Though there is a second video that is called a Version 2, it is actually more of a teaser than a full video. Here’s the full video for your enjoyment!
What do you think of it? Do you like T-ARA? If this is a sign of song styles to come this fall, are you excited for more? Let us know in the comments!
