Lee Jong Suk, Shin Hye Sun and Lee Ji Hoon who starred together in ‘School 2013’ will be reunited for the upcoming SBS two-part drama series ‘Hymn of Death‘.
It had earlier been reported that Lee Jong Suk had agreed to appear in the drama without receiving a payment, and now we have received the confirmation that he will be reuniting with Shin Hye Sun and Lee Ji Hoon for the project.
‘Hymn of Death‘ is a remake of the film with the same name. It tells the tragic love story of Yoon Shim Duk who was Korea’s first soprano to achieve fame and her lover and composer/playwright Kim Woo Jin. Lee Jong Suk will be playing the role of Kim Woo Jin, with Shin Hye Sun taking on the role of Yoon Shim Duk. Lee Ji Hoon will be playing the role of Hong Nan Pa.
‘Hymn of Death‘ was the name of the most popular song released by Yun Shim Duk in 1926. The new SBS drama will differ from the 1991 movie as it will not only follow the tragic love story of Yun Shim Duk and Kim Woo Jin, but it will also shed light on Kim Woo Jin’s work, which is lesser known to the public.
The drama will also see Lee Jong Suk reunite with producing director (PD) Park Soo Jin, who worked with the actor on ‘While You Were Sleeping‘. PD Park Soo Jin stated, “I am confident that Lee Jong Suk will be able to perfectly portray the two sides of Kim Woo Jin as both a tormented intellectual and a young man in love. I am sincerely grateful to Lee Jong Suk for not only agreeing to appear in the drama, but also decided to receive no guaranteed fee for his appearance.”
