The earth shook as the powerful girl group of YG Entertainment made a special surprise performance at this year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). The stage was set as CL performed her latest release ‘Hello Bi+ches’ with dance crew REQUEST, setting the tone and building the hype but that wasn’t all!
Disappearing into the stage below, tension grew as member by member came out causing an immediate uproar within the crowd and within my own room. As a K-Pop fan that started out as a BlackJack, 2NE1 has always had a special place in my heart, seeing the girls together after such a long absence amongst rumors of disbandment and member mistreatment as well as scandals long settled. There was nothing fans could do but flail their arms and scream each member’s name as they made their presence known among the many other celebrities.
Beginning their performance where they began, the girls brought back fan favorites performing their debut single ‘Fire’. Showing fans that they still have it with a purely magnificent show of powerful dance combined with passionate vocals, but the show wasn’t over yet, no they just had to bring back, in my personal opinion, their best song and what truly makes 2NE1 the fierce girl group we all know was ‘I Am The Best’. Combining their original dance routine with the wild ferocity of REQUEST dance crew, the performance brought on by the 4 girls was nothing short of perfection.
