“We started as six and we are leaving as six!”
– B.A.P
A lot of controversy is circling around BAP and TS Entertainment for the last two days. The thing the fans were the most afraid turned out to be true; our darling boys have been enduring terrible treatment. The company we thought we could trust showed it’s ugly side.
Yesterday a Q&A was released theorizing about why BAP would have signed a “Slave Contract” in the first place. Overall they explained contract terms and in what way the profit was divided between the members and the company.
We can see with our own eyes how the boys were unfairly treated, their health disregarded, their needs ignored and their best interest never considered by TS. According to the article, the boys earned 17.9 million won($17,900).
B.A.P has signed a contract with TS Entertainment in March of 2011. They debuted January of 2012. However until June of 2014 they have never received a single payment. The members received their first payment on July 31 2014 and that amount was 17.9 million won($17,900) per person. The division was made: 1 (B.A.P):9 (company). They were given 10% of the net profit from characters and merchandise sales. To better understand this, here’s an example: we all know that B.A.P sells the ‘Matoki’ dolls, if we say the net profit for a 20,000 won($20) doll was 6,000 won($6), B.A.P would get 10% of the net profit so they would receive 600 won(.60 cents). And you would further divide that by 6, each member would be getting 100 won(.10 cents).
So, this leaves heart-broken fans to wonder in 21st century how can we let this things happen? Are there any laws to make this stop once and for all, this exploitation of the very people we love and adore. Isn’t there something we fans can do to help?
To make things worse, there are now reports are saying that the tension between BAP and TS began last October 19th when a member was taken to the emergency room for exhaustion due to long exposure of stress and overworking. As he was getting an IV in the hospital room, a company representative has showed up and removed him from his treatment to take him to a performance in Changwon.
On October 24, there was also a problem when MBC had a performance in China. B.A.P has said they could not go to the China for the performance due to health problems. They even gave the company doctor’s notes. However the company representative said “If the broadcast company sues us you guys will take full responsibility” and forced them to go to the performance.
Earlier today Daehyun’s ex vocal teacher HAK showed support to the boys by tweeting and stating that everything that has been released was true.
First he tweeted “These are the things I have heard by keeping in touch with the members and their parents. I have been patient, but I cannot stand by and watch anymore. Those who love B.A.P stick with me behind them and support them to the end.” He also attached several screen shots of a longer message from his phone that read as follows:
“First, Dispatch’s [report] is the most realistic report of them all, and I didn’t speak up because I didn’t want to harm the group during their activities, but [now] I must speak up.
During their 3 years, they [TS Entertainment] cut their [B.A.P] contact with the outside world, took their cellphones, and even when they were in their hometown doing a fan sign event, they [TS Entertainment] wouldn’t even let them [B.A.P] see their parents for a few minutes. Even when they didn’t have schedules and their parents came to see them, they wouldn’t let them meet.
They [B.A.P] had their official break for the first time this year. Everything else was the manager or the chief letting them out for a day or two without telling the company.
Their parents kept saying ‘We have to talk to the company,’ but the members kept saying ‘We just have to concentrate on our music,’ and told their parents it’s okay. They kept getting IV lines and didn’t even once complain before this.”
Soon after, he then tweeted another message supporting the boys that said “You can share what I’ve wrote, I actually want many people to share this. I’m ready to fight along side Daehyun.”
Seeing all this makes me so angry, yes the company creates them, but they do NOT own them. The fans are trending #JusticeForBAP and with that showing support for the boys! We as a fans can do a lot, these boys endured so many hardships just to show us their best stage every time. So, please support B.A.P because they are Best Absolute and Perfect!
