On August 20th, former 2NE1 leader CL released a concept photo ahead of her upcoming single, ‘SPICY’. Preceding this, the artist dropped released a short video teaser on official channels titled ‘Spicy, Energy, Power, Chemistry’.
This comeback teaser comes after she confirmed to be signed under former WANNA ONE member KANG DANIEL‘s label, Konnect Entertainment earlier in July this year. The single will be followed by another before the release of her 1st full solo album, ‘Alpha’ sometime in October. The release was originally slated for a 2020 release with singles such as ‘HWAA’ and ‘5 STAR’ having music videos released. However, due to a slew of new ideas, it was postponed to ensure the album reached peak quality.

CL ‘SPICY’ CONCEPT PHOTO:
Here, we see the female soloist standing bare and centre facing front. With a mob of people facing away from the camera, she stands out perfectly in the midst of all the shades of red hair. The hair could symbolise the variations of ‘spicy’ as the colour is synonymous with the word. The one-tone gray backdrop is simple and brings attention further to the rapper. In the upper left corner, we see the the title of the track written in a metallic and bubbly font. Her name similarly is stylised in the upper right corner.
This return marks her first release since February. Releasing the special single, ‘Wish You Were Here’, this coincided with the songstress’ 30th birthday. Furthermore, it importantly served as a tribute to her late mother, passing a month earlier.
CL‘s digital single, ‘SPICY’ is scheduled to drop on August 24th, 6PM KST!
