‘Hwarang: The Beginning‘ has been releasing multiple still and trailers. Recently, they even gave us a look into the lead trio of the historical drama. In my last article I had hoped that KBS2 would continue with their character trailers and they are! The latest releases are non other that BTS’s Kim Taehyung (V) as Han Sung, and SHINee’s Choi Minho as Suho.
As the youngest of the Hwarang warriors, he’s quite the contradiction when it comes to personality. Through this trailer we get see a bit more of what we can expect from Han Sung. He’s playful and will create a lot of humor through his quest to become close to Park Seo Joon’s Sun Woo.
“You’re the coolest person in Hwarang“, he says to Sun Woo and then goes on to cry “I’m going to follow you!” as he’s being hilariously dragged away.
We also learn, through narration, that he’s an immensely focused person who will stop at nothing until he achieves what he desires.
“When he concentrates, he wouldn’t even notice if the world was turned upside down,” is the one line that let’s us know about this more serious side of Han Sung.
Wit and mischievousness added to an air of seriousness are the qualities that make Han Sung a character to anticipate. While a lot of him seems to resemble Taehyung in real life, we are promised that Han Sung has secrets of his own that will set the two apart.

While Han Sung is affectionate and playful, Minho’s Suho is Silla era’s and Hwarang’s resident playboy. He comes across as flirty and passionate but there really is more behind his seemingly shallow personality.
He’s skilled as he is aristocratic, but from the teaser we get to see that his story arc is going to involve something- and someone- very intriguing. Only time will tell how devoted Suho actually is to the person he loves and how his yet unseen hot-blooded side will play out.

Hwarang will start airing on December 19th and we can hardly wait to see this drama that offers so many different elements. There are still are few more supporting characters to anticipate trailers for, including the remaining two Hwarang warriors.
