Following up our article on whether K-pop music releases, music shows, and variety shows will be affected by the 2016 Rio Olympic Games or not (read more about it here). MBC has announced through their official homepage of “W” that the broadcast of episode 7 and 8 which is scheduled for next week might be affected by the broadcast of the Rio Olympic Games.
Both of the episodes are scheduled to be aired on August 10th and 11th might either be aired at “10 p.m. or be cancelled.”
Henceforth the notice, the audience notice board on the site has been swarmed with posts of fans displaying their disapproval of the potential cancellation, saying that the effect of a cancellation will have an impact on the ratings as well as how the story will progress.
“W” is a melodramatic suspense drama about Oh Yeon Joo (played by Han Hyo Joo) who gets transported back and forth from the real world and the world of a webtoon; she ends up meeting the protagonist of the webtoon, Kang Cheol (played by Lee Jong Suk), and her journey begins from there and on.
The drama airs every Wednesdays and Thursdays at 22:00 KST on MBC starting on July 20th, 2016.
