We all know that idols go through some interesting audition processes and training to follow their dreams. Some have been been scouted, others have gone to open auditions, and others have been on survival shows. Mnet with CJ E&M Entertainment, along with many other agencies, have come together for the ultimate survival show with already established trainees.
‘Produce 101’ took literally 101 trainees from all different agencies such as DSP Media, Jellyfish Entertainment, SS Entertainment, Star Empire Entertainment, Midas Entertainment, and many more including other countries as well. SM and YG Entertainment did not choose to participate in this program. The goal is that 11 girls will be picked and will form a special group whom will be together for one year and release and album under CJ E&M. What will happen after the year is unknown.
With Jang GeunSuk as the MC and one of the mentors to the girls, Mnet officially revealed 98 girls on their Thursday’s broadcast of MCountdown. Three girls have already left due to personal reasons but the name will still stay the same. With a catchy EDM inspired song called ‘Pick Me’, the girls slowly get revealed section by section. In grey and pink school girl outfits, the vocals are strong and the dance gets stuck in your head.
Starting on December 18th, Mnet’s website for ‘Produce 101’ has started to reveal each girl and what agency she is with. They are up to 44 girls as of now.
The official broadcast is aimed for mid January and will showcase the training camp and the process on how the group will be formed from which trainees, to band name, and even band concept.
From their first stage, I really liked that it was a cute and yet edgy concept, which makes hopefully for the future of this idea and what it could bring. Are you looking forward to ‘Produce 101’? Tell us how you feel.
