FTISLAND have once again re-affirmed their desire to enlist together. It’s a topic that they’ve been talking about since back in 2016, and with mandatory military enlistment looming for the older members of the band, they’ve taken the chance to confirm their intention.
While it looks as though the enlistment date for Lee Hongki and Choi Jong Hoon will be sometime in the next year, it is believed that all five members will attempt to enlist together.
The reason that they are considering enlisting together is so that they can reduce the impact of being away from the music industry. With K-pop groups such as Super Junior if one or two members are away serving their enlistment duties, the group is still able to continue on with activities. All five members of FTISLAND are integral to the group it would prove difficult for any of them to continue without the other members.
Song Seung Hyun in a recent interview spoke of the strong bond between FTISLAND’s members and stated that they still plan to enlist in the army together.
Showing his affection for his bandmates, Song Seung Hyun said, ‘We’re mostly of the belief that in a band, all of the members should enlist around the same time. We’re thinking of going in two or three years, but we haven’t set a date yet or anything. Lee Jae Jin is really passionate about acting, but he also does his best for the band and I think that’s amazing. Lee Hongki is very passionate about music and he’s great at leading us in a good direction. He has a star quality and sometimes, he’s still like a baby but he has big dreams about our music.’
FTISLAND celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2017. To mark the occasion they released their 10th anniversary album, ‘Over 10 Years‘ along with the title track ‘Wind‘.

This news comes at the same time as FTISLAND have announced plans for their eighth Japanese album ‘Planet Bonds‘ as well as a tour of the same name.
What do you think of the news of FTISLAND‘s impending enlistment? Do you think it’s a good idea for them to all enlist together, or at least as close as possible? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
