Brown Eyed Soul‘s silky-voiced singer Naul has finally released the music video for ‘Gloria‘! Check it out below!
Naul’s ‘Gloria’ MV
Naul‘s mesmerising voice is the highlight of this beautifully arranged R&B song. His voice is both powerful throughout the refrain, and more soulful during the verses. Naul‘s high notes are spine-tingling, and he delivers the touching English lyrics in a heartbreaking fashion. His impressive vocals are matched by the beauty of the dance performed by the ballerina in the music video. Her movements reflect the emotion portrayed by the lyrics with incredible grace and control.
Enchantment’s ‘Gloria’ recording
Naul‘s ‘Gloria‘ is actually a cover of the 1976 track by Michigan-based band Enchantment. Upon its original release, ‘Gloria‘ peaked at number five on Billboard‘s R&B singles chart. In the description box of his music video, Naul cites the four reasons he decided to remake the song. He made his decision because he wanted to show his passion for and pay homage to soul music in his album, because he wanted to make a meaningful impact as an Asian soul singer, because only one other artist had ever released a remake of the song, and finally because the song is extremely challenging both in terms of technique and vocal range.
