The show must go on!
As reported late last month original hosting duo Jung Hyung Don and Defconn, affectionately known as Doni and Coni, elected to step aside from their roles as MCs of popular variety show ‘Weekly Idol‘. Since the news broke speculation about the future of the show has abounded, with many suggestions about who would replace the pair emerging in the last few weeks.
Broadcaster MBC Every1 finally broke its silence on Doni and Coni‘s replacements on March 21, announcing the first two of three new hosts! Veteran comedians Yoo Se Yoon and Kim Shin Young will take over the MC roles alongside a third, unconfirmed host with recordings restarting in April.
Yoo Se Yoon
Yoo Se Yoon has extensive experience with MC duties, hosting popular programmes such as ‘I Can See Your Voice‘ alongside Kim Jong Kook and Super Junior‘s Leeteuk, as well as ‘Abnormal Summit‘.
Kim Shin Young
Kim Shin Young will be a familiar face to many K-Pop fans, also coming from a lengthy MCing background. Kim Shin Young has worked with a huge number of idol groups throughout her career on programmes such as ‘Invincible Youth‘, and is currently the host of MBC‘s ‘Show Champion‘!
What do you think of the new hosts of ‘Weekly Idol‘? With one more host yet to be revealed, ‘Weekly Idol‘ is set to begin a new chapter of laughs and fun!
