With the release of ‘Touch‘, NCT 127 displays a much softer side than we’re used to seeing from them. Although their releases ‘Cherry Bomb‘ and ‘Limitless’ are full of charisma, the group offers us a new softer concept with their latest release.
‘Touch‘ moves the group in a different direction from the intense hip-pop styling they’ve been previously focusing on and instead moves them in a brighter lighter and softer direction. The ’90s-imbued pop track incorporates funky instrumentals, sleek synths and a brassy beat over which the nine members sing, putting the impressive vocals front and centre through soaring harmonies and sharp ad-libs. The vocal layering is exquisite, and reveals yet another level of potential for the group to continue to explore.
The song grooves with an addictive energy and exciting sense of unpredictability. Thus ensuring that this track, like all the others in the NCT 2018 project, will be an immediate addition to your playlist.
‘Touch‘ is a complete style reversal for NCT 127 but the romantic, airy vibe comes somehow feels more natural and convincing as it allows for the vocalists to truly showcase their capabilities unhindered by the experimental, performance-driven sound that they’ve sought on their earlier releases.
The clip is equally a complete reversal with the members playing tug-of-war with one another and enthusiastically delivering the playful choreography with bright smiles on their faces in front of pastel backgrounds. The clip is light and bright which makes it a fitting music video for a song such as ‘Touch‘.
