Sunmi is back and better than ever!
If you liked ‘Gashina‘ you’re going to love Sunmi‘s latest track!
Check out the music video for ‘Heroine‘ below!
Sunmi‘s latest single ‘Heroine‘ shows off a more reflective side to the singer, telling the story of a woman coming to terms with being in an uneven relationship. Produced by Teddy and 24, the synth-heavy track makes use of Sunmi‘s incredible vocal talent to create different moods. The reflective verses feature a lower range of Sunmi‘s voice, while the true strength of solo artist’s voice comes through in the chorus. In ‘Heroine‘s pre-chorus most of the instrumentation drops out, leaving Sunmi‘s voice to ring out over the top in goosebump-inducing fashion. The chorus’ synth melody evokes feelings of nostalgia, and is accompanied by a beat that will make listeners want to dance along.
The music video for ‘Heroine‘ is beautifully shot, with particular attention paid to the use of colour. The opening scene sees Sunmi‘s electric blue dress serve as the only pop of colour in a grey warehouse set. As the instrumental becomes busier, the scenes become more colourful. As Sunmi sings “the show must go on” the singer cracks a smile and the set becomes a stage. The chorus also leaves room for fun choreography, which is sure to be a hit if Sunmi‘s previous hit ‘Gashina‘ is anything to go by!
‘Heroine‘ has proved an instant hit in Korea, with the song taking out the number one spot on real-time music charts including MelOn, Bugs, MNet, Genie, and Naver on the night of its release!
