Bringing the old Chinese drama ‘The Lost Tomb’ back to life, HBTV is currently involved in the production of the new variety show ‘Let’s Go Together’. In the process, Sri Lanka was chosen as a shooting location!
According to a representative from the HBTV, Sri Lanka was chosen for many reasons; landscapes, hospitable and enthusiastic local people, beautiful nature and all of which make it an ideal place for such an adventurous shooting process.
2PM’s maknae Chansung is part of the lead cast of the show alongside Chinese actors such as Liu Tianzuo, Qin Haoran, Weiwei, Zhang Lanxin and Xie Yilin. He made his first ever visit and toured in the country for weeks. Super Junior‘s leader Leeteuk also made his first visit to our beautiful country. He was a guest for the show and sadly, he could spend only a couple of days. Since his filming location was limited, we can’t help but feel like he missed the chance to see our country-side.
Leeteuk’s arrival was a surprise and was on short notice via his official Instagram, however, fans didn’t miss to welcome him warmly at the airport. He must have been surprised for this unexpected welcome! He seems pretty excited and had some fun too.
Chansung toured around the whole country starting from Colombo covering many areas such as Hikkaduwa, Galle, Sigiriya and Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage with the team. Although it is the rainy season in the country, they were blessed with clear weather every day except for the one day they did a shoot on the beach. Filming had to be delayed due to a sudden rainstorm though I’m sure they enjoyed that incident too. Beach and the rain! Aren’t they a pretty combination?
The experience Chansung got is all new for him, including wearing Sri Lanka’s traditional clothes, eating local food and meeting people. They even got the participation of local people in certain games. He surely seems to have enjoyed all of it.
As I was lucky to meet and spend certain days at the shooting locations, I took the opportunity to inquire about their thoughts on the whole tour. When I asked Chansung about his experience he stated, “Yes! I am enjoying this country and the places!” This is pretty obvious from his self-taken pictures which were viral on Twitter and on some fan pages.
Speaking of my experience of meeting him, I’m one of those lucky ones to meet him in person, not just once but a few times. Chansung is a bright and warm character. My love for him as a fan grew more and as a fan this is one of those memories I would cherish.
I must tell you; Chansung is a really strong and courageous idol. The best example is climbing 200 meter tall granite rock, Sigiriya, an ancient treasure of the country, which is also a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. He climbed all the way to the top under the burning sun whilst involving in activities on the way and was not showing his tiredness a bit or never forgot to smile. The way up is not really easy. The very next day they went to experience a very rural village near Sigiriya and the same day night had an 8 hour drive to Galle for their next schedule.
“The sky is so clean!, It’s lot of fun here!”, Others of the team commented. More than a visit for shooting, it was a tour of Sri Lanka for the whole Let’s Go Together team.
Here are some pictures from various locations.
The visit of these Korean pop idols stormed up the whole country. It is the first ever visit of a Korean pop artist to Sri Lanka. However fans were careful not to interrupt them during their shooting. On September 24th Chansung left for Korea breaking so many fans’ hearts and putting them into tears. However the farewell was done fabulously and I’m sure Chansung’s tour was complete with all the love he received.
Despite how tired he was he didn’t hesitate to accept my last farewell with all his heart.
Let’s Go Together is a television reality progam which includes seven actors who are on a mission of hunting for hidden treasures, showing off their talents in various ways, as a team and individually. Many games and activities are given to them to accomplish on each and every day whilst moving onto various locations. In the meantime, stars get to show off their individual strengths, understanding of each other, proper coordination and team work, solidarity, wittiness and their real charisma throughout the program. These artists faced a lot of challenges every day under various conditions. However it is obvious that they had so much fun and the tour in Sri Lanka is memorable for them. It was the first time to Sri Lanka for the whole casting team.
