Japanese star Fujii Mina is joining the cast of tvN’s daily sitcom “Potato Star” as a fixed cast member and a love interest for French-Canadian Julien Kang’s character. On November 24th the producer for the sitcom announced, “Starting from the episode airing on November 27th, actress Fujii Mina will appear on the sitcom.”
Fujii Mina’s character is a Japanese woman who comes to Korea to visit a loved one but it doesn’t end well, leaving her with a broken heart. Her character at times is either clumsy or oblivious to situations around her, as explained by the producer, making her completely lovable. The producer went into great detail to create love lines for Julian (Julien Kang), who moved to Korea to be closer with his then girlfriend Soo Young (Seo Ye Ji).
Fujii Mina is known for her sweet girl-next-door persona and her fluency in Korean. She has gained attention for her well-acclaimed acting skills on SBS’s “The King of Dramas” as well as her most notable stint as a virtual married couple with FT islands Hongki on MBC’s “We Got Married: Global Edition.” She shared her feelings about being on the show, stating, “It feels like a dream to be casted for a sitcom by Korean sitcom master producer Kim Byung Wook. It is truly an honor.”
