On December 17th, actress Kim Hee Sun appeared as a guest in ‘Healing Camp‘ and revealed that she suffers from erythoblastic anemia.
The MC of the program, Lee Kyung Kyu, asked Kim Hee Sun: “I heard you regularly get blood transplants. Is it true?”
To that, the actress responded: “I really need the blood. I get relaxed that way. It’s like Song Kang Ho from ‘Thirst’. I got a transfusion in July as well.'”
She continued: “I suffer from erythroblastic anemia, but it’s okay [as long as I] get blood transfusions. The red blood cells need to be an oval shape, so they can go through the blood vessels, but mine turn triangular when they pass the spleen. The red blood cells that make blood break apart, and I need more. If I get really tired, I get one every 6 months, and when I’m taking a break, I get one every 2 years. Each pack is 400 cc (13.5 fl. oz), and I get four so it adds up to 1,600 cc (54 fl. oz) of blood.”
