Actress Lee Si Young, known for her roles in dramas as “Boys Before Flowers” or “Poseidon”, has achieved her goal of becoming a national boxer with a win at the National Athlete Contest.
On April 24th, Lee Si Young won in the finals for the 48kg class, with the final score 22:20. This way she has became the first active celebrity to become a national athlete in Korean boxing history.
Lee Si Young stated: “It′s such an honor, when I still believe I have a long way to go. I actually have great goals and I wanted to work hard, but I wasn′t able to train for about a month after I entered the Incheon team when I received surgery for a slipped disk. I was so nervous throughout the game. I wanted to do better, and I′m sorry I didn′t get to.”
She has also revealed that she is planning to gain weight and compete in the 51kg category at the upcoming National Sports Festival and 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
The actress expressed: “I′m training to compete in the National Sports Festival and next year′s national athete contest. My knee doesn′t hurt anymore. I′ll keep up with the roadwork and the nightly trainings. I′ll put on a game I won′t regret.”
