Actress Lee Young Ae was featured in a full-page ad in The New York Times. She is seen representing Korea and Korean food.
Lee Young Ae’s company stated, “With her drama ‘Dae Jang Geum‘ having aired over several countries, Lee Young Ae readily participated in the advertisement shoot to contribute to the spreading awareness of Korean food.”
Professor Suh Gyung Duk who created the advertisement stated, “Actress Lee Young Ae of drama ‘Dae Jang Geum’, which is accessible to over 3 billion viewers around 90 countries across the world, took part as an ambassador and wanted to introduce bibimbap in a more friendly manner. Although the advertisement was created to spread awareness of bibimbap, we also want to let foreigners know of the beauty of Lee Young Ae’s hanbok. Just like each country has a representative food like Japan has sushi and India has curry, we will continuously promote to make foreigners think of bibimbap when they think of Korea.”
