After seven years as a main vocalist, main dancer and a leader of the rotational girl group, After School, JungA has decided to not renew her contract with Pledis Entertainment.
On January 28, a media outlet reported that JungA would be “graduating” from After School as her contract has expired. Pledis confirmed the reports, stating, “We′re meeting about After School′s future promotions”.
After School’s last comeback was in Japan during the spring of 2015 with ‘BEST’, a compilation album of previously released songs. With news of JungA leaving the company, After School will promote with six members UEE, Raina, Lizzy, Nana, E-Young, and Kaeun.
JungA joined the group in 2009 as a vocalist and moved up to accept the position as leader after Kahi “graduated” from the group in 2012. She was also a part of After School Red with Kahi, UEE, and Nana. JungA is the last member from the first generation of After School to move on.
I am sad to see After School lose another member but I am at peace with the fact that she left due to a contract expiration. With After School getting smaller and smaller, it will be interesting to see what Pledis does with their comeback since they haven’t had a Korean comeback since ‘First Love’ back in the summer of 2013. How do you feel about the news of JungA’s graduation? We want to know.
