On July 16th, popular sister brother duo AKMU revealed a new trailer for their upcoming collaboration album, ‘NEXT EPISODE’. The group have previously released their video announcement for their return.
This comeback will mark their first since their November single, ‘Happening’. With this new collaboration album, the established YG Entertainment duo plan to show new musical sides to them, benefitting from influences of featured and other artists. Check out the trailer down below!
AKMU ‘NEXT EPISODE’ TRAILER:
Watching the trailer, all is definitely as it seems. We first see member Chanhyuk sitting on a sofa at a house party. With everyone partying around him without a care in the world, he sits there stationary, bored out of his mind as if he knows something’s up. This cuts to scenes of a girl left unconscious in a flipped car crash, and member Suhyun, dressed in a classy shade of red, dropping a dollhouse from her hands to crash onto the floor. Kids seem to be cautious around each other in a post-apocalyptical world as the duo wander around the barren landscape. As the video cuts to Chanhyuk freefalling from the sky, behind mountains and into the water, the teaser ends with with him falling to the floor at the house party.
Throughout the teaser, an intense and increasing tempo of a beat plays in the background, giving the teaser a sense of anticipation and rush. Whether this is featured as part of one of the tracks in the album or is simply used for effect is unknown.
At the end of the teaser, we see a list of 7 tracks with their titles and featured artists listed. It was also confirmed that all 7 tracks will have their own music videos. They are as follows:
- ‘Warzone’ featuring veteran singer Lee Sunhee
- ‘Falling’ featuring soloist IU (title track)
- ‘Bench’ featuring rapper Zion.T
- ‘Tiktok Tiktok Tiktok’ featuring rapper Beenzino
- ‘Contest’ featuring JANNABI’s Choi Junghoon
- ‘Stupid Love Song’ featuring hip hop R&B singer Crush
- ‘Everest’ featuring singer Sam Kim
AKMU‘s collaboration album, ‘NEXT EPISODE’, will be released on July 26th, 6PM KST!
