APINK KIM NAMJOO ‘BIRD’ MV:
Lyrically, the track discusses the idea of striving towards your dreams and aspirations. Hence no matter what barriers you face, you aim towards being free as a bird. The track itself is trap in genre with a repeating flute riff drop in the chorus, thus making it more memorable.
Moving onto the MV, it opens with the singer lying in a white draped dress on top of an altar as arrows above are pointing towards her. We see her in various sets to symbolise that she is trapped. From one in a dark room where she looks out of a window, to a large flower decorated cage she’s contained in, she then cuts her hair short in the cage. By the end of the video, she looks free and confident, wearing a crown and standing on top of the altar.
Throughout the scenes in the video, a large portion of them contained the choreography of the track. Supported with backup dancers, the routine shows some gracefulness within the first verse. But, it moves towards showing powerful girl crush charms in the chorus. The addition of the dancers not only focus attention to the soloist but add to the volume and impact of the dance.
‘Bird’ was produced by YummyTone and fellow idol (G)I-DLE‘s SOYEON. The track is part of the soloist’s 1st single album of the same name, which is available now.
