MBC have announced the filming dates for this year’s Chuseok special of the 2017 Idol Star Athletics Championships!
On August 16 an MBC official told Korean media that the popular program will be filmed between the 4th and the 11th of September, and will be aired in time for the Chuseok holiday in early October.
Over the years the Idol Star Athletics Championships have been at the centre of a number of controversies, as injuries sustained by idols during the games have then impacted on their schedules following the event.
In order to make the Championships safer for the idols, MBC has announced that close-contact sports such as futsal and wrestling will not be contested this year, instead being replaced by rhythmic gymnastics for the female idol groups and aerobics for the males.

In addition, bowling has been added to the list of sports for the 2017 Idol Star Athletics Championships!
Bowling was chosen as it is a sport that poses relatively little risk of injury to its athletes. The inclusion was also influenced by the fact that a number of Korean celebrities including Kim Soo Hyun, FTISLAND‘s Lee Hongki, and EXO members Chanyeol and Baekhyun all love the sport!
