On September 13th, boy group ATEEZ released the music video to their latest title track, ‘Deja Vu’. The song comes after the KQ Entertainment act held a competition to decide which of two tracks (‘Deja Vu’ or ‘Eternal Sunshine’) would become the main title. This comes as they drop their six track 7th mini album, ‘Zero: Fever Part. 3’. It also marks the conclusion of their ‘Zero: Fever’ album series which began with 2020’s ‘Zero: Fever Part.1’ and the title track, ‘Inception’.
The ever popular 8 member lineup skyrocketed through previous sales records. Recording over 810,000 physical sales, this smashes their previous 350,000 copy record from their previous March EP, ‘Zero: Fever Part. 2’. This can also be attributed to the group’s 3rd place finish in Mnet‘s survival show, ‘Kingdom: Legendary War’, which pitted various boy groups against each other with outstanding performances.
Lyrically, the track sings about the striking attraction between two people. The percussive elements propel to a thumping dance-pop genre track. Layering with various synths, the electrifying instrumental backs against classic strong attitude driven vocal and rap timbres from the members. This is best displayed notably in its climax as a post-vocal chorus brings forward rough raps the to song’s end.

ATEEZ ‘DEJA VU’ MV:
Watching the music video, it is predominantly performance focused. We see the members posing on a stormy night rooftop before heading underground to a textured concrete like set. Between latex black trousers, and leather bad boy looks, the boys perform effortlessly to their alluring choreography. Whilst not seemingly as quick and complex as some others, they make sure every movement creates the intended impact. It isn’t until the bridge where we see a version of members in black hats referenced previously in other music videos that we get another glimpse of the lore the octet highlights in their visual content. The MV ends in a post-credits scene as a sand timer shatters and we see two members hand reach for each other. Thus, hinting at an open end to their story.
