Less than a year after their first full-fledged concert in Singapore, B.A.P returned to the sunny shores to continue their Mato mission with “B.A.P Live on Earth Singapore 2014″ on May 31st!
Earthling BABYz filled The Star Theatre to catch the sextet, Yong Guk, Him Chan, Dae Hyun, Young Jae, Jong Up and Zelo, who brought with them a sexier concept and latest song numbers from their first studio album ‘First Sensibility’ for their global tour. Starting from Seoul, B.A.P will be visiting four continents – America, Europe, Oceania and Asia, where they will meet over 100,000 fans. The boys have certainly come a long way since their debut in 2012 with identical blonde locks!
Blonde or otherwise, B.A.P never cease to excite with performances that are not only lined with some of the best acoustics and explosive choreographies, but also interspersed with sculpt storylines, novel interactive elements and peppered with fan services. According to their agency, TS Entertainment, the boys are actively involved in the concert planning this time, in an effort to create a speculatular show for fans who have been extremely supportive!
True to their word, the atmosphere was crazy even before the boys stepped out. Amid adrenaline pumping music, bouts of fire and a futuristic VCR filled the stage, against fans’ fervent screams and the sea of green lights. One can only imagine how thrilled the fans were when the stage screen finally opened!
Igniting the night were B.A.P’s hit dance tracks “One Shot,” “Badman,” and “Power.” Fans are familiar with the spray can dance routine of “Power,” but nothing beats watching it live!
Transiting to the more emotive tunes, two Matokis came onscreen. Fans were greeted with a familiar voice when one of the Matokis went – “All you need is love.” Was it Dae Hyun’s voice? Or was it Yong Guk’s? While everyone was still pondering, the other Matoki asked “But what is love?” This sparked a very adorable exchange between the two cuties!
“Love is when you blush and turn red…” explained one Matoki, while the other went “Oh I know, like when you eat something really spicy?!” That certainly tickled some funny bones as fans were hugging their bellies in laughter at the end of the session.
Decibels rose again when the boys returned to the stage with the upbeat “Lovesick.” Fans just could not control their screams as leader Yong Guk explained ‘love’ and introduced their new song in his raw and sexy voice. We also caught Himchan smacking Zelo’s butt when the boys were doing their train formation routine during “Lovesick.”
With no intention to slow down the excitement, the boys turned baristas and even wheeled out a coffee stand for “Coffee Shop,” before initiating some nosebleed with sexy body waves and pelvic thrusts for R&B track “Body & Soul” – ULTRA-HOT. Lucky front row fans also got a taste of ‘STARBABY’s COFFEE’ that was personally delivered to them by the boys to the edge of the stage!
Continuing the heat, a footage showing the countdown days to B.A.P’s global tour came on screen. What caught everyone’s attention were those perfect abs during one of the members’ boxing sessions! B.A.P started the next stage with “Punch.” And in between Zelo’s high-speed rap and Daehyun’s perfect high notes, the boys got everyone head-banging together to “No Mercy” and jumping to “Bang Bang.” Fans were having so much fun!
Catching a breather, the sextet delivered the soothing “Rain Sound.” But fans’ screaming did not seem to take any break as Jong Up’s solo ‘dance time’ that followed turned the heat back on. BABYz were chanting his name like a mantra as he glides effortlessly across stage, before wowing with his somersaults, and ripping his shirt to cap off the performance with some well-defined abs!
After the catchy track “Save Me,” B.A.P decided to save the human kind by sharing tips on “how to become the most attractive humans on Earth.” Forget about make-up tutorials or fashion gurus! Fans were taught the “dance moves popular in outer space” and “if you follow the steps accurately, you will be the most attractive human being.” The mini-dance tutorial came in the form of a special education programme with hilarious instructions, and demonstrated by possibly the Matokis themselves with a horse mask on. The last piece of instruction given to the dancing and giggly fans was – “show your parents your moves every morning at breakfast!”
Fans need not wait till the next breakfast and were already rendering the newly acquired choreography to good use during the next song “Check On,” and continued grooving along to “Excuse Me.” Jong Up’s breakdance moves got the track “Spy” going with an energetic start, while Zelo’s butt twerk sent the exhilarated fans into a trance.
“What’s up Singapore? We are B.A.P!”
After a good 14 songs, B.A.P formally greeted the crowd, some of whom already panting as hard as the boys. Showing the chops of global stars, all members communicated in English. The boys playfully initiated a popularity test to see which member can garner the loudest cheers. Young Jae’s sweet “I love you” certainly fetched him a high rating, and the one who sure know how to grab attention was none other than dance machine Jong Up – the crowd went wild when he quipped “Did you like my six-pack?”
Laughter aside, members shared their thoughts with their treasured BABYz on seeing them again. Yong Guk got the ball rolling, “We are back in Singapore!” and Himchan recounted it being B.A.P’s third visit to the city-state. “In fact, it feels like our second home,” continued Dae Hyun. Young Jae added, “because you guys are so nice and friendly” and Jong Up went, “thank you for always come out (to see us)!” while maknae Zelo cannot wait to bring more good performances to fans – “Are you guys ready? Let’s go!”
“Hurricane,” “Dancing in the Rain” and the delightful song “Stop It” flew by, and it came down to the last song “Crash” – which was almost hijacked by chili crab when the boys complimented how yummy the dish is and even started chanting “chili crab”!
“Encore” was the next thing that reverberated through the theatre. To fans’ delight, members’ tweets came onscreen soon after the boys retreated backstage – Daehyun’s read “Let’s party tonight!” while Jong Up still could not part with the yummy #chilicrab.
We knew the boys would not leave the BABYz hanging – B.A.P re-emerged with their latest lead single “1004.” Fans were bathed in sweetness with an aegyo overload from the members. Himchan and Yong Jae were blowing kisses and taking selcas with the fans who gathered just below the stage, while Dae Hyun treated everyone to a short unplugged version of “Where Are You.”
Finally, seems like it was really nearing the last song of the night. Himchan teased fans, “Do you all know our debut song?” Young Jae added, “Well, we just need 100 seconds to change!” We really got to hand it to the boys when it comes to churning adrenaline – the real time 100-sec countdown certainly brought some thrill. When it halted at the last 15-sec mark, fans were screaming the roof off when prompted onscreen that the countdown needed more cheering to keep it going.
B.A.P concluded the night and the 20-song set list with “Warrior.” Drenched in sweat, members waved Singapore goodbye with cute stuffed toys thrown onstage by fans.
Now, we are on the countdown to seeing the boys for the fourth time!
