We are back to bring you our music tips and recommendations, this time from the first two months of 2022. Even though it is only two months worth of songs, we had so many favorites it could fill a list until the end of this year! But we managed to narrow our choices to the top six. Let´s listen to them together below!
VIVIZ – Bop Bop!
Redebuting from a disbandment successful group is rare in the scene, however the former GFriend members, Eunha, SinB and Umji make it work to create one of the bubbliest title tracks in February. Its mixture of latin rhythms in the first verse before descending into its infectious 2 part disco chorus really makes us bop bop (pun very much intended) to this banger. The group are set to be in the lineup for season 2 of Mnet’s survival show, ‘Queendom’ so we will surely be watching out for them.
TAEYEON – ‘INVU’
The center of this song is definitelly the artist´s powerful voice. Taeyeon is presented to us as a fairy-like Goddess and her voice makes us feel heavenly. On top of her vocals, the cinematic scenes makes you very immersed, to the point where you almost feel like a movie-like storyline just slipped thru your fingers. The song has a laid-back feel to it at times, but there is something underneath it all which makes you mesmerized. And we are not talking only about the scenics there, Taeyeon´s voice is simply too luring to pass by.
Billlie – GingGaMingaYo (the strange world)
Debuting at the tail end of last year, the septet have proven no fears towards offering quirkier music to form their musical identity. GinGaMingaYo is surely no different. Whilst not as out there as their divisive debut track, ‘Ring X Ring’, this comeback brings about a track that emphasises the simple melody, particularly with its chorus which similarly sounds like the nursery rhyme ‘Old Macdonald had a Farm ‘. Its engrained earworm in the minds of many of us as children make us feel safe and familiar, which adds drama towards the section when the song deviates from the normal such as the partying dance break.
VICTON – ‘Chronograph’
This song was a big surprise to us. We are used to seeing VICTON in a different music sphere, but we fell straight into this one. Fueled with a powerful guitar the melody is a spin. The rap part adds a proper texture to the song mid-way, creating a door for us to step into. And after stepping over the treshold we want to run along with the fast-paced track. VICTON did not disappoint vocally as well, the song is richly seasoned with their voice spectrum.
Rocket Punch – ‘CHIQUITA’
It’s been a while since this Woolim girl group has graced our screens. Returning after 2021 retro title ‘Ring Ring’, the girls here deliver another synth-y song. Being arguably more upbeat, the strong 80s beat shimmers through. Their light vocals compliment and fully allow the beat to rush through and absorb our ears. Let’s hope the group can make quicker comebacks to bring us more of their quality material.
PENTAGON – ‘Feelin‘‘
The groove this song posses gets you from the beginning and with that smug of a sexiness underneath the lyrics it is the right combination we seeked. The melody looms around the singers voices nicely and drops just in time to spice things up with a little rap break. And as much as a sudden-ending this song has it climbs to that point where you truly want to hit replay in an instant to enjoy it again.
What were your favorite comebacks or debuts this year so far? Did you fall in love with the same songs as we did?
