Fans may be disappointed with the recent news involving the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge.” Many had looked forward to seeing BIGBANG’s T.O.P, 2PM’s Nichkhun, and Akdong Musician take on the challenge and get drenched in icy cold water. But, as was recently revealed on each of their respected Facebook and Twitter accounts, these artist have chosen to opt out, and instead donate to the cause that helps find a cure for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Nickhun tweeted his refusal, but also explained his reasoning which is conserve water. He chose to donate instead:
It’s important to save lives but it’s also important to save water. Sorry to disappoint you all. I will donate for a good cause instead.

On BIGBANG’s and Akdong’s Official Facebook, the musicians also urged fans to join the fight along with them and hundreds of others celebrities to help the cause. They also encouraged fans to look into the two foundations established to help with ALS: the ALS Korea Association and the Hope Foundation.

We are happy with all of the K-pop idols who have participated so far, as they have all contributed to the cause in their own way. Stay tuned to see who faces the challenge next!
