Billboard had the pleasure to sit down and talk to Tiffany from Girls Generation just after she accepted the award for “Video Of The Year” for her group at the first ever YouTube Awards.
In the interview, Billboard points out that upon Girls Generation winning the award it must have led to the fans of the other artists nominated for the award to “collectively drop their jaws“. Even though this “Asian act with crossover potential” are considered to be queens of Kpop they are still relatively unknown outside of the kingdom.
Tiffany’s humbleness and gratitude for even being included in the star studded nominee list showed through in her words to Billboard.
“The best thing about a platform like YouTube is that it helps musicians all around the world to reach such a vast audience. I’m just thankful that we were able to reach out to so many different fans that didn’t know what our music was. But other than us, there are so many other Asian acts that are appealing to a worldwide audience. To be chosen to represent that for the first-ever YouTube Music Awards is very unbelievable and amazing. Hopefully, it will get us worked up for the next album.”
