March 24th marks Park Bom’s 33rd birthday (32nd internationally) so let’s take the time today to wish her well!
Born in South Korea, Park Bom moved to the United States where she graduated from high school and enrolled into Lesley University with a major in psychology. She started to admire music as a high school student after listening to Mariah Carey’s songs and decided to pursue her career as a singer, even though her parents strongly opposed this idea. She found encouragement in her aunt and secretly transferred to Berklee College of Music.
Upon returning to South Korea, Park Bom audition for YG Entertainment but was rejected multiple times. The agency noticed her talent after three years. Even though Park Bom officially debuted as 2NE1’s main vocalist in 2009, she started to release songs in 2006, recording with Big Bang, Lexy, Masta Wu and starring with Lee Hyori in her CF ‘Anystar.’ In 2008, Park Bom appeared in a music video for labelmate Kim Ji Eun’s ‘Tell Me Once More.’
Apart from being 2NE1’s main vocalist, Park Bom has released two solo singles ‘You And I’ and ‘Don’t Cry’ both of which achieved an all-kill topping all major music charts in South Korea.
Officially KMusic would like to wish Park Bom a very happy birthday!
