K-EXCLUSIVE: Boyfriend’s U.S Showcase

In early March, the American cities of Dallas and Chicago were home to Boyfriend‘s first U.S Showcase. If you were unable to go you can read this article and imagine the experience instead!

From the moment the boys stepped out onto the stage, Best Friends were doing what they do best, fan-girling and singing along with Boyfriend and supporing them all the way until the concert concluded.

There was a special and surprising event for fans during the concert; DongHyun asked fans to look for a red sticker underneath their chairs. Whoever had that red sticker won an amazing experience! A lucky girl got the chance to go on stage and DongHyun gave her a bunch of flowers and sang to her.

After the last solo, the host tested the fans by asking them questions like how many members are in Boyfriend, what their names are, and their birthdays; without a doubt the fans answered the questions right away with accuracy. Even though there was a language barrier, Boyfriend tried their best to communicate with their fans in English. The crowd was in awe whenever the boys tried to speak English, especially Minwoo.

They played charades and they invited fans to participate with them, Minwoo won the game of charades and afterwards Boyfriend politely said thank you to every one of them, Minwoo even hugged his partner, and gently helped the fans walk back down the stage.

By the end of the showcase, KwangMin took one of their fan’s phone and took a group selca (how lucky!)

During their last song, they changed the lyrics to “Bye Bye Chicago” and fans could not contain themselves, they were screaming at the top of their lungs for encore.

Following the introductions, the host asked them a few questions that many Best Friends would love to know the answers to!

Q: What is boyfriend working on lately?

A: They said they are working on their new Korean album and might have a comeback before summer.

Q: First impression of Chicago?

A: The weather is cold, but the fans are warm.

Q: Feelings about the showcase?

A: Can’t image there were so many people coming and thank you.

Q: Will they come back to Chicago?

A: Yes. During DongHyun’s solo, there was translation of the song on the back, which was very sweet.

Kmusic hosted a contest ticket give-away to this event to which 10 lucky fans won! One fan in particular, Diana Perez, attended this concert as her first ever K-Pop concert! She wrote to us, “I had the best experience of my life to attend my first ever Kpop Showcase.”

“As soon as the lights went down, every Best Friend started screaming, as loud as we could, then the boys came out. I sang my heart out just like the rest of the fans and had lots of laughs. For those two hours all we did was dance, sing, cry and show our support.”

“As the show came closer to the end I felt blessed to have had this opportunity and, to be honest, I didn’t want this dream that came true to come to an end, but I am happy to say that I came out of the Showcase with a whole new goal in mind and that is to share this love and passion for Kpop with as many people as I can. My boy friend came out loving the show as much as I did. I want to thank Kmusic (Korean Music) and BOYFRIEND for the chance of a life time and the amazing opportunity! Thanks to you I have great and lasting memories.”
