Chinese singer-actress Chris Lee edged out nominees Justin Bieber, One Direction and EXO to win the Best Worldwide Act Award at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday.
The 29-year-old won the award after garnering the most number of votes from fans. She gleefully shared “This is by far the most significant milestone of my music career to have received such a prestigious international award. Thank you, MTV! Thanks also to my management and my team. I represent all of my Chinese fans, standing on the international stage …my glory belongs to you!”
This is the third consecutive year an Asian artist has won the award. As BIGBANG and former Super Junior member Han Geng of China, won the award in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
