CJ E&M Music Business Unit is known for their roster of artists which includes SG Wannabe, Davichi, Roy Kim, Son HoYoung, Hong DaeKwang, Park Boram and Wable. Now they will add Eric Nam to the list alongside Spica. They will be releasing Jung JoonYoung who has been with them since his Superstar K4 days.
CJ E&M Music Business Unit′s Ahn SukJoon said in an interview on December 24th, “We signed exclusive contracts because of Eric Nam′s global growth potential and the potential for a talented girl group like Spica has to take on individual activities as well in the future. We will do our best to help them to go beyond Korea and be global stars through CJ E&M′s music infra structure.“
Eric Nam made his debut in 2013 with his first mini album, ‘Cloud 9’ and spread his name with a slew of singles after that. He has proven himself a multi-entertainer, while hosting a few shows, notably Airang’s ‘After School Club’ with 15&’s Jimin, and U-Kiss’s Kevin Woo.
Spica made its debut as a five-member girl group with single ‘Doggedly’ in 2012, which got a lot of recognition since their label mate, Lee HyoRi was featured in the music video and had a producing credit to the song. They followed this by releasing their first mini album, ‘Russian Roulette’ days later.
However, CJ E&M Music Business Unit and Jung JoonYoung have decided not to renew the contract they had, though it had expired earlier this year. The company did continued to provide management support after the expiration, but the two sides recently decided not to renew their relationship. CJ E&M will continue to offer support on the management end as well as for his concert until the end of the year and help Jung JoonYoung make a fresh start with a new company.
Congratulations to Eric and Spica, and many wishes for JoonYoung as he start his new journey. Are you a fan of any of these artists? Let us know!
