On August 19th, monster rookie boy group CRAVITY released the music video to their latest title track, ‘Gas Pedal’. This comes accompanied with part 1 of their 1st full album, ‘The Awakening: Written in the Stars’. This part contains eight new tracks, with the other part unannounced as of yet. With track names such as ‘Go Go’ and ‘Grand Prix’, the Starship Entertainment act remain within the vehicle theme this comeback. This follows their earlier 2021 car themed title track music video for ‘My Turn’.
Lyrically, the song talks about living your best life by moving in the fast lane. The confidence and swagger the members exude over this hip hop beat feels current and polished. The bridge brings a slowdown with expressive vocals taking over, leading to a harmonised climax. This all also shows the exceeding growth to developing their sound and maturity. This is all despite the nonet celebrating their 1st debut anniversary merely 4 months earlier.

CRAVITY ‘GAS PEDAL’ MV:
The MV is set within a digital landscape. With neon skyscrapers and signboards lighting up the night, there is a futuristic atmosphere. We see the members all adorning black body-fit biker gear; with the lights reflecting upon the leather exterior, the idols look stunningly untouchable. Throughout the video we see references to a motorcycle before it is ridden into the distance faraway. A fluorescent trail follows the tail of the moving vehicle as the video cuts to the members sitting around a yard with their personal bikes. The choreography here displays the group’s effortless power as the quick large movements match the intensity of the backing. By the end of the MV, it concludes with the cityscape slowly disintegrating into pixels.
CRAVITY‘s part 1 of their 1st full album, ‘The Awakening: Written in the Stars’ is available now!
