CROSS GENE have made their long-awaited comeback with the release of their fifth mini-album ‘Zero‘ and title track ‘Touch It’ and the accompanying music video.
‘Touch It‘ features lyrics that talk about the flirting that comes before the start of a romance.
It’s their first release since ‘Black or White‘ (a personal favourite of mine) and marks their comeback as a five member group. The song has a fresh R&B sound mixed with a tropical beat.
The song opens with an instrumental that is moody and drifts into a synth-driven refrain that is continued as part of the drop. The track sits on a solid tropical foundation that is as good as any other that we’ve heard lately and the production value is amazing. The pounding beat throbs away and is very satisfying to listen to. The layered vocals are beautiful and lift the song to another level.
The music video itself is a cross between a performance clip and a story-based video. The choreography for the clip is next level. It fits the song so well and the members manage to make it look easy. The choreography is interspersed with scenes of the members searching through a jungle like urban terrain for a girl.
