DAY6 are almost ready to take over Japan, releasing a pre-debut music video for their first Japanese single’ ‘If ~ We Meet Again‘ (‘If ~また逢えたら~’) today!
The JYP Entertainment rock group are well loved in Korea, and have previously released two full albums and two EPs, in addition to their ‘Every Day6‘ project singles, which were released once a month, every month in 2017!
DAY6 were also nominated for Best Band Performance and Qoo10 Song of the Year for ‘I Smile‘ at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, and Best Rock Performance for ‘You Were Beautiful‘, at the Melon Music Awards in 2017; although they missed out on the awards themselves, they’re starting off strong in 2018 with this Japanese release!
The music video captures the band’s restless energy, at once explosive and contained, resulting in an incredibly polished MV. As expected, DAY6‘s vocals are strong even in a foreign tongue; Sungjin‘s signature huskiness in the chorus is complimented by Young K‘s powerful voice, and offset in the verses by both Jae and Wonpil, who reach higher registers without any visible effort whatsoever. Although the concept is clearly geared towards the Japanese market, with its flashing lights and anime-style action, the track itself is pure DAY6; their debut in the land of the rising sun is going to be one to watch (and buy concert tickets for).
Dowoon‘s acting skills also get an impressive airing, and we can guarantee that bassist Young K‘s English rap at 2:20 is just one of the highlights of this MV; watch the full video below now!
