Drama Review Corner: ‘K2’ Episodes 11 & 12

Last episode: Je Ha agreed to go on a mission to kill Park Kwan Soo, but it’s revealed that Yoo Jin‘s right hand woman ordered Je Ha to be killed.

Episode 11 takes viewers to the mission as JSS prepares to storm the castle. The guards alert Kwan Soo who try to divert JSS agents. As Kwan Soo goes to the hideout in Cloud 9, Yoo Jin is overjoyed that her plan was successful. The boss of JSS reveals that he found the hideout through the chief of police. At the hideout, Je Ha and his partner, who was ordered to kill him, mess up the code word and are surrounded by guns. However, they get out easily and the fight begins. The JSS team storms the hideout while hidden snipers help them out. Je Ha’s partner is shot and rather than going after Kwan Soo right away, Je Ha checks to see that he’s okay. With only Kwan Soo and Je Ha left alone in his office, Je Ha chokes up as Kwan Soo begs for his life. Kwan Soo offers Je Ha money in order to not be killed. Je Ha orders him to sit down and he obliges but not before letting the JSS people go by Je Ha’s orders. Realizing Kwan Soo knows his true identity, Je Ha attempts to find out how much he truly knows. Meanwhile, Kwan Soo continues to threaten that he won’t make it out alive. Mulling over that Kwan Soo doesn’t know his biggest secret, and pretending to be interested in the money, he calls Yoo Jin. When Yoo Jin realizes that Je Ha is alone and that will prevent the murder of Kwan Soo, she orders that Kwan Soo be placed on the phone. Once on the phone, Yoo Jin gives a list of demands in order for Kwan Soo to live. First, she demands that her husband, Jang Se Joon is released, and second, that Kwan Soo takes Se Joon into his party. For the cherry on top, she offers that Kwan Soo drop out of the race, which he laughs off. When Kwan Soo hands the phone back to Je Ha, she reiterates the fact that he has to come back alive.

At the police station, Se Joon is finally released from the interrogation room and is berated by the press. Yoo Jin watches on Mirror. While she’s congratulated, she waves this off saying to save it for when Je Ha gets back alive. At this ,Dong Mi attempts to call her asset but he hits the off button. In Kwan Soo’s office, he gives Je Ha $2 million and offers for him to leave Yoo Jin. Je Ha, realizing the opportunity, takes it. Je Ha happily leaves confusing Kwan Soo’s guards.  After telling her husband to meet her at her home, Yoo Jin threatens Dong Mi saying that if she ever attempts to touch Je Ha again she’ll be killed.

Back at the secret house, Anna waits impatiently for Je Ha as J4 attempts to call her to dinner. When a car comes up to the house, Anna runs outside and greets Je Ha. He pulls her into a big hug and apologizes for not bringing her the food she wanted, but offers something better.

At Yoo Jin’s house, Se Joon furiously stomps in and strikes Yoo Jin across the face threatening that she would be powerless if he doesn’t become president. She lashes back at him stating that if he doesn’t become president then she can simply use Kwan Soo to get the her the JB group assets. She mocks him and declares that she used to have feelings for him. Though he once held power over her, her feelings distinguished and she holds the power now.

In a restaurant, Anna, Je Ha, and the JSS team enjoy a meal celebrating their victory. Yoo Jin watches on and orders Je Ha go to Cloud Nine the next morning. As they arrive back at the house, Je Ha’s partner is shocked when Je Ha calls him hyung. He then realizes that no one is sober enough to drive home. While the men are getting beauty masks put on them, Anna excitedly sees and begs (along with the others), that Je Ha do it too. When someone hits his back, Je Ha cringes and Anna asks if he’s alright as he waves her off. In a cute scene, much to Je Ha’s discontent he gets a mask too. That night the men sleep downstairs but Je Ha is uncomfortable with the situation and gets up. Meanwhile in her room, Anna reminisces about the kiss between her and Je Ha. She then remembers that he had cringed earlier when his back was touched. She then goes to the bathroom and gets a medical kit. Je Ha and Anna meet in the room leading to the roof and much to Anna’s delight, it’s been completely cleaned. After a sweet scene of Anna attempting to get Je Ha’s shirt off, he lays down and she cleans the multiple cuts on his back. Afterwards, he and Anna sit on the roof together. Je Ha realizes that Anna is cold, and so he grabs a blanket and pulls her close. Je Ha offers to take her and live in Spain together, to which Anna happily agrees. Anna, realizing she doesn’t know a lot about Je Ha, asks what he was doing in Spain. He reveals what happened with Raniya. Realizing that it’s the reason why Je Ha has so many nightmares, she pulls him into a hug and tells him that she’s there for him. When they pull away, Je Ha reveals his feelings for her saying that he will always protect her.

The next day, Je Ha goes to Cloud Nine and confronted by Yoo Jin who tells him that he needs to get close to Kwan Soo. Meanwhile, Sung Won gives the house to Anna and reveals that he’s paying for the services of the bodyguards. As he’s leaving, Anna asks where her mother’s gravesite is. Sung Won tells her that he’ll take her and that he’s going to bring her to the fashion show in her mother’s honor. In the last moments of the episode, it is revealed that after Je Ha leaves Dong Mi and Yoo Jin have gone behind Je Ha’s back.

Episode 12 returns to Se Joon being ushered in to Kwan Soo‘s party, where the latter threatens Se Joon saying the campaign will end with one of them dead.

Meanwhile, Anna heads to her mother’s grave where reporters become more suspicious. The grave site is seemingly sub-par, and Anna talks as if her dad is still alive. Adjacent to her visiting the grave, Je Ha meets with Master Song who reveals that Yoo Jin lost her inheritance to the JB group because of the pressure from her in laws on her brother’s side to marry Se Joon. Song also reveals that he’s the oldest member of JSS which is how he’s gained the information.

After leaving her mother’s grave, Anna and her uncle travel to a prison. They meet with a prisoner who reveals that he was the one that grabbed Anna the night her mother died. After some instigation from both Anna and Sung Won, the prisoner recounts the events of the night. It is then revealed that he saw Yoo Jin commit the murder. As they leave for the fashion show, Sung Won informs Anna that they can’t reveal Yoo Jin is the murderer due to her father’s campaign. Additionally, Anna is warned that she can’t tell Je Ha about what’s happened.

Je Ha arrives at the beauty salon just as Anna is finishing up. The make up artists asks who he is and Anna happily replies that he’s her boyfriend. They both push for Je Ha to look more presentable. Afterwards, with Je Ha in a new sexy hairstyle, they meet with Sung Won who takes her to the coordinator. Sung Won reveals he’s been giving Anna the anxiety medication, despite Je Ha’s protest. As she gets ready, Anna becomes nervous and asks for more medication. However, Je Ha pulls her aside and advises against it. Anna takes it anyway and prepares for the catwalk. At the beginning of the show, Anna steps out and thanks everyone for coming and that she wants everyone to remember her mother. The fashion show goes forward until the end when Anna, dressed as an angel, goes on for the finale. Before she goes on stage, she takes another pill. As she walks down the runway she begins to stumble. While she stumbles, Sung Won smiles at his mother and orders a light to shine in her face. Realizing the situation ,Je Ha acts quickly running toward Anna and holding her making sure that she’s protected.

The next day, Yoo Jin looks at the various posts about the fashion show zooming in on a picture of Je Ha in the background. However, she’s interrupted by Dong Mi. Dong Mi reveals a malicious article has been posted claiming that Yoo Jin is Anna’s real mother and that she killed Anna’s mother because she was being blackmailed. Back at the house, Sung Won reveals to Anna that he planted the article to go viral so people would be forced to look into her mother’s death and, like last time, Anna can’t tell Je Ha.

Sung Won takes Anna to the chief of police where he puts on a show for the paparazzi saying how he will get to the bottom of who posted the article, as well as sue for defamation. When they visit the chief, Sung Won pushes the investigation onto him and hints that he wants a re-investigation into Anna’s mother’s death.

Meanwhile, Yoo Jin has been adamantly preparing for her volunteer work to make sure that she looks good to the public. The paparazzi quickly get wind of the investigation into the article and storm her service. As she approaches the journalists, they berate her with questions. Yoo Jin becomes dizzy and subsequently faints earning her a visit to the hospital.

Back at the safe house, Se Joon pays his daughter a visit but she refuses to leave her room. When he goes up to her, she promptly tells him to go away.

In the hospital, Master Song pays a visit to Yoo Jin. When Yoo Jin dismisses her guards and Dong Mi, Song insists that she leave Anna alone. When Yoo Jin laughs it off, Song threatens that he may not be able to control himself any longer.

Up in Anna’s room, Je Ha pays a visit as he is curious to why Anna refused to see her father. She tells him that she doesn’t need him and when Je Ha partly defends Yoo Jin, Anna questions his loyalty. He responds quickly stating that he’s on her side but she pushes for more answers asking why she sticks with Yoo Jin. Je Ha brushes it off, realizing he couldn’t tell her it was to get someone killed.

The head of JSS and the chief of police meet up for dinner and discuss a plan. Realizing a huge benefit, they plan on playing both sides waiting for the winner to be revealed.

An antsy Je Ha gets up from his post and pays a visit to Yoo Jin, demanding if she killed Anna’s mother. Yoo Jin is adamant about defending herself, knowing his relationship to Anna. But she tells him that she didn’t have a hand in her murder. When Je Ha pushes to know why she’s kept this information, she reveals that it would be easier to get the upper hand if Se Joon and Anna thought she was capable of murder. After she reveals this, she tells Je Ha that he has full access to Mirror and he’s the only other one, aside from Yoo Jin, with that power. When Je Ha questions it, she tells him that he’s trusting of her. And as a result, she will trust him. Sung Won interrupts them and Je Ha leaves. The siblings discuss the politics of the JB group as well as JSS. Sung Won pushes for ownership of JSS and in exchange will give Yoo Jin branches of the group. In Cloud Nine, Je Ha makes sure that he has full access to Mirror and whatever information he needs about Yoo Jin. Yoo Jin calls Se Joon to the hospital telling him that he has to come with her to the police station. As the episode ends, they arrive to the hospital where the press are ready at hand. They ask as many questions as they can. While Anna, Sung Won, Kwan Soo and Je Ha watch on, Yoo Jin tells them that Anna is the biological daughter of Se Joon much to the surprise of all.

So, these last two episodes have been absolutely insane. I don’t know about anyone else, but I trust Sung Won the least of all especially after the fashion show. He doesn’t seem to truly care about Anna and is using her as a hold over Yoo Jin. He also is obviously not giving Anna the proper care considering he sabotaged her at the fashion show.  I also wish that Je Ha would be slightly more trusting. I was ecstatic when he opened up to her on the roof but he still holds back so much. I’m sure everyone is insanely curious as to what Dong Mi and Yoo Jin are planning behind Je Ha’s back and also about what Je Ha asked Mirror. I’m hoping for slightly more romance and trust. I’m aware it’s more action, but the little romance was nice. I’m curious to see if Je Ha will conquer the fact that he can’t kill and I have a feeling it’ll come down to Anna’s life being in so much danger he doesn’t have an option. I do love the fact that the writers don’t try to sway Je Ha by adding romance and he’s still completely focused on his main mission of killing Kwan Soo.

While episode 12 wasn’t as entertaining, it’s a 10/10 of course!
