Last episode, Je Ha (Ji Chang Wook) had discovered a mysterious figure on the roof of the illegitimate child of assemblyman and presidential candidate, Jang Se Joon (Cho Seong Ha).
Episode 5 returns to the scene, Je Ha using his skills, climbs up the roof and attempts to call his co-worker. He gets on the roof and discovers Anna (Yoona) eating uncooked ramen and feeding a kitten. Je Ha looks on as a scene not unlike the one in the first episode with him and a kitten goes on. As the kitten leaves, Anna is thrown for a loop in a flashback of handing her mother sleeping pills and cries. Afterwards she goes back into the house and Je Ha learns that she was using a heating pad to fake being in bed.
That morning Park Kwan Soo (Kim Gab Soo) gathers with men from the other districts as Je Ha spies on them to gain information, but is left with nothing. Kwan Soo is told of the death of Choi Yoo Jin’s (Song Yoona) aunt. Meanwhile Je Ha reports back to his commander who takes him to the funeral. Once there they discover only certain people are allowed in, and Je Ha gets in among them. After the funeral the members of the family are sent to read a will and Je Ha gives Yoo Jin a pen that projects back the conversation when pressed once, sending a beacon of help when pressed twice.
The Choi family enter the room and are locked in with high security. Yoo Jin is given the entire inheritance toward a foundation she runs which infuriates the family. Yoo Jin hits the pen once and the conversation is projected back to Je Ha. Her uncle-in-law offers a hefty sum of money for shares in the foundation in order to fund the assemblyman’s presidential race. Realizing she’s going to refuse her uncle reveals a secret meeting behind her back to find a new CEO, in astonishment Choi releases the pen and it’s caught by her brother who clicks the pen off. It’s revealed her father abandoned her mother for his secretary who then had Choi’s brother.
Je Ha realizing Yoo Jin wasn’t the one who pressed the pen off, rushes toward her as her family continues to lash out at her. Je Ha sets a fire in the bathroom and defeats the security in time for the sprinkler to go off. As the Choi family exits, Je Ha stands with an umbrella and gets Yoo Jin out. He makes sure she still looks dignified and reassures her the meeting isn’t happening. The other assemblyman looks on amused by the drama and Yoo Jin sets off with Je Ha and demands, despite the fact he rescued her, that he follows orders as she breaks down. Then Yoo Jin goes to “Cloud 9” leaving Je Ha curious.
Back at the house, Anna finally gets her ramen that Je Ha had prepared for her. In an adorable scene a happy Anna and Je Ha dance around.
As Je Ha steps out for a smoke, J4, who is in love with him, approaches him and he slides her off. She reveals that Anna’s father didn’t visit her and she ran away from the convent to find him. Before Je Ha can say anything he receives a phone call to go to the 9th floor aka “Cloud 9”. The episode ends with Je Ha going down to the 9th floor.
Episode 6 returns to the scene as Je Ha enters “Cloud 9”. Yoo Jin is holding a meeting to get rid of those who opposed her at the foundation. After the meeting ends, Yoo Jin ushers in Je Ha. She reveals her AI system, Mirror, which can answer any question he has but for the price of learning of his past. Je Ha reveals about his former fiancé and how he was set up so it looked as if he killed her but he escaped authorities and that’s how he ended up in Spain. He ask Mirror what Kwang Soo was doing and why he killed her and Mirror reveals he was making a deal with an Iraqi leader and his fiancé was killed solely for interpreting the transaction. Yoo Jin realizes it could’ve been a weapons deal and Je Ha reveals he set his fiancé up as an interpreted.
Meanwhile, back at the house, Anna realizes no one is watching the cameras and sneaks out to see her father at a church. She steals J4’s wallet and earpiece then drugs her and slips out of the house. She travels back to her home and visits a photography shop that has a photo of her and her mother in the window. The photographer reveals that her mother was an actress, wanted a passport for Anna for America, and that there was a third women in the photo. Anna goes in search of the women and finds her at an assisted living home. Out of it but with prompting of Anna, the women yells at Anna whom she believes is Anna’s mother that Yoo Jin is trying to kill them and she must take Anna to America.
By this time JSS has realized Anna is missing and desperately searches the facility. Realizing she slipped out they go to the church. At the church Anna, dressed in nuns clothing, sings with the choir and looks on as she realizes her father doesn’t care. JSS attempts to capture her but Je Ha stops them and she sings “Amazing Grace” then disappears once again.
Outside the church Je Ha looks for Anna among the nuns and one of them hands him a slip of paper. The paper is a note to Jang Se Joon saying he would know where she was. Yoo Jin realizing that her husband cares more about his campaign than his own child is furious and a scene flashes back to the day of Anna’s mother’s death when Se Joon learns that Yoo Jin has a hold on his child and she threatens to kill him.
Anna is at a park where she used to go with her father and mother. The park holds a special place as she flashes back to a visit she had with her family. Se Joon promises to always look for her if she’s lost and she should stay put if she gets lost hence why she’s at the park.
After a photo with Anna in it is found, Je Ha and the team head to the park but Je Ha insists on going alone. He brings along ice cream and tells Anna her father sent him and ice cream for her. Anna hesitant at first but realizing her father gave her the ice cream takes a bite and talks about her father to Je Ha. She has problems breathing suddenly and Je Ha upon realizing so acts quickly. It’s revealed she’s allergic to strawberries, which where in the ice cream, and the episode ends with Je Ha performing CPR on a near death Anna.
I loved these two episodes, especially the dynamic of the characters. It’s especially amazing to see the character progression in each episode as Yoo Jin becomes less of a power hungry politician’s wife to a person with feelings. The ramen scenes have me squealing and I absolutely adore the chemistry between Je Ha and Anna. One of my favorite scenes was Anna singing “Amazing Grace”. Not only did is showcase Yoona’s amazing vocals, but the song choice was perfect. The politics have started to become a huge part of the show but it’s extremely easy to follow and intriguing as well. I like that there wasn’t as many fight scenes in these two episodes as well, as much as it’s fun to watch Chang Wook kick ass, I like to see the characters progress as well.
It’s a clear 10/10 for me, the amazing chemistry, the choices the director made, and the overall awesomeness of the show has me completely hooked!
