With South Korea still grieving after the Sewol ferry disaster that occured on April 16th, and with the number of victims increasing every day, more events, comebacks and programs have been cancelled or postponed to a later date.
“Running Man” decided to cancel their filming for this week. PD Cho Hyo Jin stated, “Recently, the staff decided that we would cancel all the scheduled filming for the 21st and 22nd.” And added, “We decided that neither the staff nor the cast were ready to joke around and laugh at the moment, so we decided to cancel the broadcast. We have nothing planned for future filming, and future schedules will probably be decided on the status of the ferry rescue situation.”
CJ E&M decided to cancel the 21st episode of tvN’s daily sitcom “Potato Star 2013QR3,” as well as Mnet‘s “Wide Entertainment News” and XTM’s “Homme.” The company is still debating whether the next episode of drama “Dating the Witch” should be broadcasted or not.
Lee Jung has also decided that holding his “Together” concert in the time of such a tragedy is inappropriate and postponed it to a later date. The concert personnel announced, “Because of the deep sadness from the Sewol sinking, the 2014 concert ‘Together’ that was set for May 17th-18th has been postponed.”
The singer himself wrote on Twitter, “My 2nd concert that was planned for the 17th-18th will be canceled and postponed. I’m planning to lend my strength for mourning and a miracle. God bless.”
Lee Jung’s label commented, “We all decided to postpone his concert for mourning. We’re sorry to those who are waiting. We send our condolences to the families of the deceased and the families who are desperately waiting for those to be rescued.”
Additionally, Lee Seung Chul, Lee Mun Se and 2BiC have cancelled their concerts, expressing their grief over the incident.
2BiC’s “BiC Show Unplugged” was planned to be hold on April 26th-27th. One of the staff commented, “2BiC canceled their concert to show their sympathy for the Sewol incident. However, they have been practicing hard to make their next concert a more perfect one.”
As reported earlier, G.NA, EXO and Cross Gene postponed their comebacks and promotions. Lena Park and Fiestar have also joined this group putting on hold all their plans for comeback. Fiestar expressed, “It is right for us to push back our comeback date. How can we possibly laugh and perform on stage when the nation is in such crisis? We hope that the incident willl be resolved soon. The time that we have been given before our new comeback date will be used to further perfect our upcoming stages.”
