EXO has used the power of music and the solar eclipse to send a message to their fans.
They surprised fans by releasing Korean and Chinese versions of ‘The Power of Music #Total Eclipse’.
Both versions are short 20-second videos that feature a mesmerising track with Baekhyun‘s soulful voice standing out from the rest. The vision is of a solar eclipse which is both beautiful and powerful perfectly matching the theme of the clip(s).
At the end of the clips, a message appears on screen that reads, “The power of music arises when the eclipse occurs.” The clips are tagged with ‘A message from EXO Planet.”

The solar eclipse imagery is familiar to EXO fans as it has been used numerous times throughout the band’s career. Its use has given rise to theories surrounding the meaning and timing of the release.
The first connection that was made was that the eclipse (and the related story from the ‘MAMA‘ music video) has appeared in many of EXO‘s comebacks.

There is also a theory surrounding the historical tale of a solar eclipse stopping a war. EXO‘s latest album is entitled ‘The War’ and members have spoken about the meaning behind the title track ‘Ko Ko Bop’ being about dancing on the night before the war.
