This year’s guests include director Kim Sung Ho (‘How to Steal A Dog’, ‘Horror Stories II’, ‘She Came From’ and ‘Into The Mirror’), director Woo Moon Gi (‘The King of Jokgu’, ‘Lost in Transportation’ and ‘Mongoo Speaking’), director Han Ji Won (‘Clearer Tha You Think’, ‘On The Way to School’ and ‘Kopi Luwak’), director Shin Su Won (‘Madonna’, ‘Pluto’, ‘Circle Line’ and ‘Rainbow’) and producer Lim Chung Geun (‘Madonna’, ‘Pluto’, ‘Days’ and ‘The Elephant on the Bike’).
As of the movies, the Festival will present 20 original titles that were released in 2014 and 2015. Check out all of them:
‘How to steal a dog’ (개를 훔치는 완벽한 방법)
Directed by Kim Sung Ho, ‘How to steal a dog’ is a “heatwarming modern-day fairy tale glowing with wit, reality and fuzzy vibes”. The movie tells the story of a poor ten year old girl who sees a missing dog poster offering a five thousand dollar reward and decides to steal a dog so she can get enough money from the owners to buy a house for her family.
‘A Hard Day’ (끝까지 간다)
In ‘A Hard Day‘, we join the homicide detective Ko Gun Su (Lee Sun Kyun) as he commits a crime that can ruin his role career.“A non-stop edge of your seat action thriller that will have you gripping your armrest from start to finish. Clever and articulate execution”.
‘The Target’ (표적)
Follow ex-mercenary killer Yeon Hoon (Ryu Seung Ryeong) as his ordinary life is dragged back to his dark past. “The action flick that had cannes wanting more. Explosive and powerful action that is all class.”
‘The Divine Move’ (신의 한 수)
“A highly stylish tale of revenge centred around the game of Baduk (Go) on and off the board.”
‘The Face Reader’ (관상)
As the best face reader in Joseon, Nae Kyeong (Song Kang Ho) discovers a powerful secret when he starts to work for the government’s inspection board. “A period piece set in the Joseon dynasty about the fate written in one’s face and a mand who dared to change it all.”
‘The Admiral: Roaring Currents’ (명량)
Starring Hollywood actor Choi Min Sik, this movie tells the story of the most revered strategist in Korea history, Yi Sunshin as he received the daring quest of defending Korea against the Japanese ships. “The historic naval war epic that set the highest grossing record in the Korean Box Office.“
‘KUNDO: Age of the Rampant’ (군도: 민란의 시대)
“A fantastic period action flick with the right amount of humor, styler and turbulance.”
‘Love Forecast’ (오늘의 연애)
Starring the famous actors Moon Chae Won (‘Good Doctor’, ‘War of The Arrows’) and Lee Seunggi (‘Gu Family Book’, ‘You’re All Surrounded, ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho’) ‘Love Forecast‘ tells the story of a well known weather reporter who sets out on a trip to help her sort her true feelings for three completely different men.
‘The King of Jokgu’ (족구왕)
Follow the main protagonist as he tries, at the same time, to win the heart of his university’s sweetheart and to win the Jogku (foot-volleyball) competition to get back the campus’ Jokgu court. “This hilarious new-age comedy is bound to make you laugh out loud till it hurts. Are you ready for Jogku?”
‘My Ordinary Love Story’ (내 연애의 기억)
Eun Jin (Kang Ye Won) is in her 7th serious relationship and everything seems to be going perfectly this time, until she finds a suspicious message on her boyfriend’s phone. “Not your average rom-com, not your average film! You won’t regret watching this beyond ordinary twist of genres.”
‘A Matter of Interpretation’ (꿈보다 해몽)
“David Lynch meets Hong Sang Soo in the mind boggling arthouse delight about dreams and surrealism.”
‘Factory Complex’ (위로공단)
A tearful story about the hardships of female workers in Korea. “Winner of the Silver Lion at ‘La Biennale Di Venezia‘, this documentary is an artful look at Korea’s beleaguered workforce.”
‘Clearer Than You Think’ (생각보다 맑은)
“Instriguingly relateable chords of emotion melds with the ecletic omnibus film of the animation prodigy Han Ji Won.”
‘Han Gong-ju’ (한공주)
The breathtaking story of a young student who has to deal with the consequences of a horrible incident in which she was involved. “Devastating but encapsulating, ‘Han Gon Ju’ is a triumph for indie cinema befittingly receiving rave reviews internationally.”
‘Revivre’ (화장)
“Master Im Kwon Taek‘s latest work triumphantly explores the conflict between desire and morality of the flesh.”
‘My Dictator’ (나의 독재자)
“What would you do if your father suddenly became the dictator of North Korea?”
‘Cart’ (카트)
A touching story of a mother struggling to keep her job in order to take care of her children, featuring EXO‘s D.O.
‘Gangnam Blues’ (강남 1970)
Starring famous actor Lee Min Ho, ‘Gangnam Blues‘ tells the story of two childhood friends who were separated by the skirmishes in 1970 and now live two completely different lifes that will, however, meet again.
‘TAZZA: The Hidden Card’ (타짜: 신의 손)
One of the most famous films of 2014, Tazza presents BIGBANG‘s TOP as a young man with incredible talents in gambling.
‘Madonna’ (마돆나)
A heartfelt story featuring 4MINUTE‘s Sohyun, ‘Madonna‘ tells the story of a nurse and a mysterious pacient with a dark past.
