Forbes Korea magazine has recently published a list of “Top 10 Celebrities”. The annual list is based on income, appearance fees, number of endorsements and hits on search engines as well as magazine cover appearances and mentions in other media.
First on the list was none other than PSY. He definitely deserved this place as his “Gangnam Style” rocked the whole world. The song got a record-breaking 1.4 billion hits on YouTube and 40 million digital downloads. PSY has managed to earn over $40 million in 2012.
Girls’ Generation ranked second with “Twinkle” and the group’s high demand in advertising and TV shows.
Next on the list was Son Yeon Jae, the rhythmic gymnast who placed fifth in the finals at the 2012 London Olympic.
Actor Kim Soo Hyun ranked fourth thanks to the drama “Moon Embracing the Sun” and movie “The Thieves”.
The list had also ranked Song Joon Ki, for his roles in “Innocent Man” and “A Warewolf Boy”, Big Bang, because of the high popularity of their album “Alive” and winning Album of the Year at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards, Park Tae Hwan, swimmer who won the silver medal in the men’s 400-meter freestyle swimming event at 2012 London Olympics, IU, for becoming No. 1 on the charts with “Every End of the Day”, Kim Yuna (figure skater) and Super Junior as their sixth album, “Sexy, Free and Single”, sold 570,000 copies and for winning Best Artist Group Award at the 19th Korean Entertainment Arts Awards.
