Kris has been very busy with making his debut as an actor and continues trying to establish himself since making the decision to leave EXO and SM Entertainment. The news alone shook the K-Scene when it was released that Kris was finally fulfilling his dream as an actor. The surpises roll in as the latest casting news of him taking part as one of the male leads along with former Super Junior member, Han Geng surface. The two will take part in a Korean-Chinese film “Xiao You Qiao Mu” which will be directed by Korean director Jo Jin Kyoo. Kris is the latest addition to the cast along with Han Geng, as well as Korean actor Joo Won. The three male leads will compete in the film for the heart of the female lead who is yet to be named.
While the news of Kris’s second project surfaced, so had the negative responses. Netizens commented on his latest project branding not only Kris but also Han Geng as “Traitors”. They voiced out their anger against the two former SM Entertainment members. They also “called out”the former EXO-M leader & Super Junior member accusing him of being shameless for leaving the company on bad terms. The netizens showed a rare side of sympathy for the troubled company saying the two used SM to gain their celebrity status. Tons of ill-wishes were wished upon the film, hoping the “Xiao You Qiao Mu” to be a box office flop.
Han Geng has since made a name for himself after leaving the company and the disapproval from netizens have died down since his departure, but now has been revived since the recent casting news. Kris left the company and took legal action to have his contract nullified due to ill-treatment. While many fans feel the two are ungrateful, Han Geng had nothing but appreciation for his former agency regardless the falling out, “I am indebted to SM. There are teachers and friends whom I respect in the company, and no matter what has happened in the past, present or will happen in the future, everything that I have today is a result of the help I got from them at the start, Even though we have chosen a different option in carving a path for ourselves, I have always wished them well. Also, the fans who have always been with me, are (a source) of my pride!”
Regardless of the negative reactions and the falling out with the agency the two have been able to survive and continue to make a name for themselves.
