With the tag line ‘Womens Revolution‘ it seems that sports fashion brand Nike had specific people in mind for their collaboration with Korean fashion magazine W Korea. Nike have a long running global promotion about strong, independent women taking control of their lives through sport and sports fashion – Being rebels to the social norms of what women ‘should’ wear, the brand are known for supporting LGBT rights and collaborating with many women’s charities. The fashion magazine W Korea are another brand that is always open to collaborations that celebrates the empowerment of women as a strong lead figure that is outside the usual beauty standards considered by society.
The collaboration video features models Kim Sung Hee, who was a ballet major in university and a professional dancer for ten years. Lee Seung Hwa, who is known as a race queen (A promotional model for racing cars), and Jung Ho yeon who was a contestant on Korea’s Next Top Model. Actress Lee Si Young who is known for her role in the movie ‘Killer Toon‘ also has a hidden sporty side where she trains as an amateur boxer in her spare time to keep fit. F(x)s’ member Amber Liu and I.O.I member Kim Cheong Ha are also part of the line up, both being known for their athletic looks and interest in sports, but also for their unique styles. Lastly, Choreographer May J Lee from the 1Million Dance Studio’s joins the battle for the position of top woman whilst showing off some of her moves.
On W Korea’s facebook they stated:
“Nike X W Korea ‘Woman’s Revolution’ is for women who are not afraid of change, women who challenge and sweat to become stronger in today’s world, comrades who encourage each other with great energy when they are together. The story of the Nike Women Crew with W Korea is about to unfold. Live, train, run – Who will be the most excited of the nine female crews who will meet in three videos?”
Which looks like another two videos are still to come. Be sure to check out the video below!
