After a breakout year, G-Friend returns in 2016 with their third mini album ‘Snowflake’. The new title track, ‘Rough’, has an edgier feel than their previous songs while still keeping true to the G-Friend image.
Having debuted in January of last year with ‘유리구슬 (Glass Bead)’, which had a dance pop sound complete with amazing choreography and sweet vocals, G-Friend’s main image is of a cute school girl. Considering they are still quite young, it really works for them. That image has not changed for the six member group but the opinions of K-Pop fans everywhere has as G-Friend has picked up speed in popularity due to their precise dance moves and sweet charm.
‘Rough’ speaks of a girl who is trying to tell a someone she likes them but doesn’t have the courage to. In the music video you can see how each girl thinks of the person but is struggling with moving to the next step. The music is catchy with powerful rock sounds and prominent strings adding to the overall dynamic of the song. Check it out below!
Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji continue to display amazing teamwork as the newest rookies under Source Music (under license to KT Music). Last year alone they were nominated for eleven awards at all the major year end shows and took home five of those trophies, mainly for Best New Artist.
I am not normally a fan of cutesy groups, I am an older kpop fan so I like when they have a spunky look about them. This newest song has definitely made me a fan and looking back on their earlier work, I am sad I didn’t get into them sooner. How did you like their newest song? Tell us your opinion!
